I AM ALIVE!
Despite the horrible shaking of yesterday I am actually alive. Really thought that I was going to die.
For those who missed it, yesterday Chiba (my city) had the biggest earthquake that it has had for 13 years (around a 6 on the R scale and 55 miles deep).
I was on the phone to NZ when it hit. After a brief tussle in the doorway with the new ladder I won the protection of the doorframe.
The poor new Aussie guys asked if that shake was normal...
After that there were no trains running so spent the night drinking beer. Gave up on beer at 2am and went hunting for a place to sleep (me and the 4 guy workmates...).
Got kicked off the comfy bench by a security guard. Tried the elevator for a while in a dept store but were paranoid about getting arrested so left after 20 mins. Spent the rest of the night on an uncomfy bench. Got home at 5.30am and off to work at 10...
Life as a Gaijin in Japan RULES!
P.S. Got my first kiss and grope by a Japanese person. Happened to be a VERY drunk (but very cute) Japanese woman...Her husband was VERY keen to see more but I wasn't THAT pissed!
